Are you one of those anarchists that starts your run as soon as you’re out the door? No warmup, no walking, nothing? You probably figure you’ll just go slower on your first mile and that’s good enough. Warm-ups are for gym class and water aerobics right? Ugh, some people just want to watch the world burn.

I used to run right out the door and you know what happened? It caught up with me and now I’m filled with guilt and regret. Do as I say, not as I do! And I’m here to tell you to warm up your high performance engine before ripping out onto the speedway. Dynamic warmups help prep your body for activity, increasing body temperature and blood flow to your muscles.

Here are 4 ez pz moves that will cover most of your bases before a quick run. Do each of these moves for :30 and cycle through all 4 moves a few times for a nice little 6 minute dynamic warmup.

  1. Toe Taps
  2. Hip Rolls (in and out)
  3. Lunge + Twist
  4. Grapevine (looks ridiculous but feels great!)
