Between 1984 and 1993, I spent Sunday afternoons watching movies with my Dad, mainly westerns or Kung-fu. This was before streaming and even for most of the 80s for our family, before VHS. This meant we would sometimes catch the tail end or miss the beginning or something annoying like that. Over this tenure, I can confidently say I have watched every Bruce Lee film in its entirety approximately 14 times. What did I learn? In hindsight, everything.

“Don’t think, feel! It is like a finger pointing away to the moon. Don’t concentrate on the finger or you will miss all that heavenly glory.” At the time, gems like this were over my head but now?  I’m reminded to focus on the long game, that details can cloud the joys in life.

Fast forward a few (ahem, 20) years and the Wing Luke Museum in Seattle hosted a Bruce Lee retrospective. I brought my Dad who was able to pull all our favorite movie quotes from memory unlike his jerk daughter who had to use the interwebs.

What’s the point of all this reminiscing? The point is, I’m finally able to wear this bit of nostalgia. These shoes brought my entire life full circle. In collaboration with BAIT, Onitsuka Tiger released a Bruce Lee shoe on what would have been Lee’s 75th birthday.  Inspired by Lee’s final film, the shoe features a yellow and black look, the kickman embroidered on the heel, and his signature on the tips.

What? These were a MUST-HAVE item! Oh, you’re just surprised I was able to pull off a 350 word blog post out of a pair of sneakers. That’s just my style. Bruce Lee’s style?

“You can call it the art of fighting without fighting.”

What else do you want to talk about?
